Sarelle had been with vampire Danial for several months. She had oathed to him but did not know that the potions he was taking could make her pregnant. Then she miscarried and she could not endure his betrayals, and the knowledge that he would not age but she would. Her friend Terian came to visit her and used a potion on her to make her feelings for him come to the surface. However, it wasn't feelings for him that she felt, but feelings for Theo, Danial's best friend. After leaving Danial, Theo moved in with Sar. She finally got Danial to take back his oath, which left her vulnerable to his brother Devlin. Theo's former lover Tawny shows up pregnant claiming that the baby is Theo's. Sar is dealing with quite a bit in learning to live with a were-cougar. When Devlin kidnaps her and brings her to Danial, Sar is sure that she will die. Sar is a very strong woman and wants to do everything herself. She still has feelings for Danial even after everything he has put her through. But, she cannot deny the feelings she has for Theo and the fact that she always feels safe with him. Theo has to keep his feelings to himself because the woman he loves is oathed to his best friend. However, the time comes when they can be together.
This book does not stand well alone. This is the second book of the series and the first really needs to be read before this one. This is an action-packed paranormal plot that will keep you on your toes. The characters are well-developed and there is a nice balance between description and dialogue. Fans of paranormal will enjoy reading this book.
