Breaking the Bonds of Adult Child Abuse is a textbook with Biblical references on how to deal with abusive narcissistic families. It is a self-help guide in overcoming low self-esteem resulting from being around family and other relationships that exhibit abusive behavior towards one another. I don't often read self-help guidebooks; however, this book is very active oriented. The author's adamancy of the reader to get to a better feeling with their self esteem. Reading this book will give the reader a feeling of eagerness to a contented life away from people who implement abusive behaviors. Some of the language in this book has a tone of being overly determined and forceful, in which I thought were very insensitive, but the language tone is beneficial to have the abusive behavior eliminated.

This book resembles a textbook in which the author gives detailed description on how to stop abusive behaviors from guiding you. Sister Renee Pittelli points out that people who demonstrate narcissistic and abusive behaviors are not aware of other people's feelings, wants or cares, so the abusiveness is carried on through time without them knowing they are abusive. Sister Renee's words are powerful, shocking and intriguing. This is a great book to share with persons involved in pastoral counseling from domestic or relationship abuse.
