Breaking Free from the Ego: A Course in Finding and Freeing Yourself by Trina Carroll-Houk should not be read as one would typically read a novel. Take your time and pace yourself, using the learning opportunities to practice and contemplate. It provides time to reflect and refocus through every step of the journey to freeing yourself of the ego. Do not try to rush through this process, as you will only do yourself and the book a huge disservice. Do not attempt this book if you are not willing to give yourself the time and the permission to dig deep and heal and surrender to the process. If you are deeply spiritual, this will be a valuable addition to your toolset and will undoubtedly help you through those tougher to navigate areas. If you have wondered about consciousness, felt the effects of a dark night of the soul, or experienced an existential moment in time, then this book will certainly help you to understand what has happened or is happening to you.
Few people embark on this journey without having had something to trigger the beginning of the process. If you have had such a trigger and are starting to wonder what is happening and why you are feeling what you are feeling, then Breaking Free from the Ego is certainly worth reading. This book will help you to understand what you are going through and also help you through the process. This incredibly complex topic has been beautifully distilled into an easy-to-read book written in a self-help manner which allows anyone to go through the process without feelings of overwhelm and confusion. It is clear and concise and makes the journey feel less arduous. I thoroughly enjoyed this book because it resonated so much with how I have come to view the world. This is a complicated question and Trina Carroll-Houk has distilled it into easy-to-understand concepts with helpful self-learning opportunities throughout the book.
