Brayden and Chloe had fun playing in the treehouse in the woods behind their house but soon it was time for them to go to sleep. It was a spooky night and they decided to tell ghost stories. Brayden's mother told them she used to do the same with Heather, her sister, and Chloe's mother when they were little girls. Though Brayden and Chloe did not want to sleep, Brayden's mom tucked them into bed. Once she switched off the light and left the room, Brayden and Chloe were scared. When a sound came from the other side of the house, Brayden jumped into Chloe's bed, and they hid under the covers. Brayden always thought he was brave and called himself Brayden the Brave. They decided to check it out and tiptoed to the door, and went down the long hallway. Would they be able to see the monster?
Brayden the Brave (The Brayden Series) by Michelle Bradshaw is a delightful story that will leave child readers curious and eager to know where the noise comes from. It also helps them understand it is okay to feel scared and, like them, even adults get scared at times, just like how Brayden's mom gets scared hearing the noise. Brody Gulledge brings life and color to the story with his colorful and bright illustrations, capturing the eeriness and spookiness perfectly. Most children love ghost stories and being scared and this story does just that. Children will be waiting eagerly to read the next book in the series, just like me.
