Brandy, You’re A Fine Girl is a work of fiction in the historical, comedy, and relationship drama subgenres. It is suitable for the general adult reading audience and was penned by author Dee DeTarsio. The book follows the whirlwind life of Brandy as she schemes to marry the noble Elliot, who needs an heir before he turns 30. Faking her pregnancy to her new husband in order to maintain her comfortable life, the ruse is soon discovered, and her husband must complete his duty as a husband to save them both… if he can. Perhaps his best friend Beau can save the day, but as much as Brandy falls for him, there may be more to Beau and Elliot's friendship than Brandy realizes.
This book was an absolutely wild adventure telling the highly entertaining story of a woman doing what she can to have the best life possible. I was particularly impressed by the author's ability to take the song by Looking Glass that inspired the book and translate the lyrics into such a compelling romp through the life of the titular Brandy. Author Dee DeTarsio is an imaginative writer with gorgeous prose that keeps the tone of the story light and moves the events along at a suitably fast pace as the whirlwind dance of Brandy’s life plays out for the reader. Brandy is an outstanding and refreshing female protagonist who uses every tool in her arsenal to get what she wants out of life. She is constantly willing to improvise and push forward to pursue her goals, and she’s a leading character whom audiences will have no problem rooting for. Overall, Brandy, You’re A Fine Girl is a whirlwind comedy of sex and sexual politics that will hook readers from the first page and take them on the ride of their lives.
