Air Force Major Richard Hartman and his co-pilot Captain Deana Crown are given a simple mission; fly six nuclear missiles back to the United States on board the most advanced Stealth bomber in the world. The B-3 Boomerang is nearly invisible to radar and very, very lethal. Bottom line, it’s simply the best of present day military technology. But, their simple mission quickly changes when a strange occurrence sends the plane from the present day back to 1942 and into the very heart of Nazi Germany. The plane is disabled and captured by the Nazis. With the plane’s superior technology and its nuclear arsenal, the Nazis could easily win the Second World War. Somehow Hartman and Crown must make sure that doesn’t happen while desperately attempting to return to their own time. Back in the present day, enemies of America will do anything they can to steal the secrets of the B-3. A combined team of CIA and NSA agents hatch a plan to ensure that doesn’t happen. Events happening 70 years apart are suddenly entwined.
Boomerang Will Not Return by David Crane is the type of book you just don’t want to put down. Superior weapons, time travel, spies, and Nazis. What could be better? I really enjoyed this book, which can be classified as an alternate history/science fiction tale. While reminiscent of the movie Final Countdown, it goes even further with incidents happening in the past and present. The author cleverly weaves the simultaneous story lines to make an easy to read and enjoyable story. I particularly appreciated the lack of excessive violence, sexual situations, and harsh language. Boomerang Will Not Return is a grand adventure that sci-fi and time travel fans will truly love.
