Author Biography

Boar and Family Books are based upon true stories. We envision that readers from age two to 102 will delight in getting to know Boar’s family. We suggest getting someone on your lap to turn pages as you read and jump into the world of Boar and the family.

Years ago, Cindy had a black lab. Martha was adorable and well behaved. Cindy would bring Martha to work as a therapy dog for the residents in a nursing home. One day we went to a pet food store to get Martha some food and bought a stuffed dog chew toy. It was a boar. We brought Boar home. Martha played with Boar pretty tough, causing the toy to squawk! Boar had a squeeze box in her.
Well, Boar was so darn cute we took Boar away from Martha and Boar became a daughter to us. Since then, we have acquired Junior, a gecko from the Rain Forest, and Hardy a bear from the state fair. They each have a personality of their own.
These three have been our kids since 2010 or so. We would tell Cindy’s mom what our kids were doing, and she would laugh and chuckle. Cindy’s mom, (kid's grandma) has told us early on that we should write these stories down. Well, in 2023, we started to do just that. Cindy is the illustrator; I (Gus) am the narrator.
We hope you enjoy the antics and love of our family as much as we do.

Boar's Letter by Cindy and Gus Gee is a delightful and heartwarming story that captures the joy of family life through the eyes of an adorable talking stuffed animal. This is the second book in the Boar and Family Books series, and it follows Boar, a once-inanimate toy who has become a beloved member of the family. The adventure starts with Boar trying on new clothes and sharing a sweet moment with her dad as they find matching outfits. The real excitement begins when Boar receives a mysterious letter addressed to "Neighbor," which sparks her parents' playful idea to call her “Neigh T. Boar.” The story is a wonderful mix of everyday experiences and fun creativity, reminding us about the beauty of love, being unique, and finding joy in simple moments. It’s truly a celebration of family, individuality, and the magic of imagination.

I found Boar's Letter to be a charming and enjoyable read. The plot is straightforward, perfect for young readers, and the quick pace keeps them engaged. The characters, especially Boar, are so relatable and lovable, and the warm bond between Boar and her parents adds a heartwarming touch. The imaginative storytelling turns ordinary moments, like trying on clothes and opening the mail, into wonderfully meaningful adventures. Cindy and Gus Gee beautifully weave themes of family, acceptance, and creativity throughout the tale. The writing is light and clear, making it easy for kids to follow along and enjoy. The illustrations by Cindy Gee also help the storytelling to come alive. Boar's Letter is a delightful book that young readers and their families will treasure for its positive messages and gentle humor.
