Author Biography

Many years a fandom writer, Myrielle Glassman has decided to boldly go where she has not gone before: original fiction. Armed with a degree in Literature, an unhealthy reading addiction and a big imagination, she hopes to entertain as she has been entertained (and she loves hearing from readers!).

Blood of Fire is her first novel, written after posting pics on Tumblr, making moodboards and doodling concepts in notebooks became insufficient. She is currently working on the sequel, after which new books in new universes will be coming.

Blood Of Fire is a work of fiction in the epic fantasy, adventure, and action subgenres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience and contains some scenes of fantasy conflict and adult themes. Penned by author Myrielle Glassman, we explore a world where the aftermath of war leaves Bloodborn knight Meara shattered. Having lost everything, including her honor, she renounces her Order and attempts to escape. However, fate has other plans, binding her to an enchanted ring and an unexpected quest—to rescue a mysterious faerie named Tamsen. The narrative is shrouded in haunting memories and the ominous awakening of ancient darkness, propelled by the spilled blood and fire of both mortal and immortal realms.

Author Myrielle Glassman has crafted a pacy, atmospheric, and highly riveting read that strikes a great balance between fantasy, redemption, and the complexities of allegiance. I enjoyed the fact that this tale went beyond the traditional boundaries of good and evil into a more morally grey area, exploring the aftermath of conflicts and the interplay between characters grappling with their own demons from different angles of the conflict’s aftermath. Meara's journey becomes a metaphor for the intricacies of personal redemption in the face of a looming, ancient threat, and it’s accompanied by some engrossing close narration that adds to her realism and emotional depth. Glassman's storytelling prowess creates a world both fantastical and eerily relatable, with characters that resonate long after the final page is turned, and the prospect of a lot more action from this superbly imaginative world. Overall, I would highly recommend Blood Of Fire as a sophisticated and suitably complex adult fantasy novel that also still packs plenty of plot, action, and excitement.

In Blood of Fire, the first volume of the Bloodborn Tales by Myrielle Glassman, Meara, a Bloodborn Knight, is accused of treason for conspiring with a leprechaun. Queen Selya drugs Meara and hides her in the Honour Hall, where she wakes up to find a wayfinder ring placed on her. Queen Selya instructs Meara to use the ring to find Tamsen and bring him to her. Meara uses the ring on the island of Isir and encounters a magic forest, where she learns about the Seelie Court and the Unseelie Court. Discovering there were two types of Fae, Meara realizes that Tamsen is the king of the Unseelie. Filled with guilt for killing innocent Fae, Meara is determined to travel into the unknown to save Tamsen. However, Meara discovers that Tamsen is more than she realizes.

Myrielle Glassman's attention to detail is exceptional, painting a vivid picture of every moment in the story. The pages are full of adventure, from the magical forest Meara traverses to the intense battle scenes. Meara's strengths are evident through her fighting skills and immunity to Fae magic. However, her inner turmoil and hopelessness were flaws that could result in defeat. Tamsen was a complex character with familial problems. He also had a dark side to him that he struggled to control, making him a dangerous adversary. The plot is unpredictable and captivating. The conversations between Meara and Tamsen are particularly intriguing as they compare what they have learned and challenge each other's beliefs. Blood of Fire will appeal to dark fantasy readers who enjoy watching opposing sides join forces against a common enemy.

Disillusioned with the war between humans and the Fae, Meara, a Bloodborn knight, decides to abandon her position and walk away from the carnage. Before she can put her plan into effect, her commander recruits her for a secret assignment. She must find a mysterious faerie and get him back to Elyria unharmed. In her quest, she discovers more to this war than meets the eye. In Myrielle Glassman’s Blood Of Fire, an ancient enemy rises from the ruins to reclaim his kingdom, as was foretold.

Myrielle Glassman uses intriguing teasers to immerse the reader into the story, as seen from the opening chapters, where there is plenty of talk about how the war reached its current point but a big mystery concerning why it started in the first place. The character development is impressive. Each of the principal actors in the war has an origin story unique enough to spin another tale around it. The magical creatures that Meara encounters while on her quest are detailed. What I particularly like about them is the way Glassman creates origins for some of the dangerous ones that link them to popular children's fables but have a frightening edge. An example is the Maigh Maru, whose history is just as scary as its method of dispatching opponents. Glassman’s storytelling style is engaging. She uses the conversations between Meara and Tamsen to draw the reader into this magical world and give a deeper understanding of the factions in this conflict and the mortal who has a role to play in ending it. Blood Of Fire is a fantasy genre fan's dream novel.
