Blood Cure by Eileen Sheehan follows the story of Haven, the daughter of a scientist who managed to develop a concoction that provides immunity from the virus being spread by the New Order. Haven sets off with her two companions, Chase and Rita, but soon ends up being separated from them following a mutant attack. This leads Haven to discover the truth concerning the New Order after staying at one of the farms that supply them with food. Now her goal is to eradicate the New Order and maybe save mankind.
Blood Cure by Eileen Sheehan was a roller-coaster of emotions from start to finish. I found myself liking Haven’s tenacity in the beginning, but the story soon took a darker turn. I liked the fact that the author gives us a look into the hardships Haven had to face without it becoming too graphic. It made me feel a deep sense of sympathy without generating any negative associations while reading. I think Sheehan did an amazing job of packing a lot of information and events into this story without it becoming overwhelming. The pacing was good and we were given just enough information on the events at the right time. Although readers only encounter a few protagonists in this book there was pressure put on some of them to reveal information about the world and this was done tactfully. I was left shocked several times while reading but I enjoyed every minute of it.
