Birthday Katastrophe: A Backyard Buddies Badventure Series by Allan E. Carty and Gloria Lauris is a children’s adventure book for 4th-6th graders. This delightful tale is the second book in the series. Dash the Red Squirrel is excited to celebrate his first birthday and plans to invite as many animal friends as possible. Dash’s older and wiser friend, Chippy, the Chipmunk, helps plan the party and offers sound advice on fair treatment and getting along with others. While inviting other critters to the festivities and throughout the party, Dash and Chippy have some close calls and exciting moments that lead to new friendships. There are many endearing characters in the story, which show the reader how similar the challenges and triumphs faced by humans are to those experienced in the animal kingdom.
