Being Kind is Cool is a children’s picture book by Rebecca Almeida. It’s the first day of school at the Shapes Academy, and all the shapes are eager to learn. But the Blue Circles don’t seem to be on the same page as everyone else. When the Little Blue Circle suggests playing with the other shapes, the Big Blue Circle doesn’t want to – there’s something strange about all those other shapes! Big Blue Circle is about to learn a valuable lesson about how being different isn’t a bad thing!

Being Kind is Cool by Rebecca Almeida isn’t just a wonderfully written story. It’s an important book for all children to read and understand. Packed with colorful illustrations by Andreea Hompoth-Voicu, this is a fun story about learning to appreciate that just because you might look different from others, you don’t have any less value. The story is simple, and the illustrations help bring it to life, highlighting the differences between the shapes while telling a story I’m sure many children will recognize. It’s an engaging story that teaches children the valuable lesson of empathy, and it’s different. Using shapes instead of people or animals as the main characters is unusual, but it works perfectly to illustrate that everyone is different. The reflection prompts at the end of the book help cement the reader’s understanding, not just of the story but of themselves, and the printable coloring pages are a fun way to end things. The story will also help children learn their shapes and colors, making it an all-around perfect educational but fun book. Highly recommended to all children, this story carries a message everyone would do well to remember, not just kids.
