Ever heard the expression, don't judge someone unless you've walked a mile in their shoes? Policeman are often portrayed as either the good or bad cop. Well, now you can read, feel, and truly imagine what life was like for a twenty-four-year veteran policeman and not even leave the comfort of your home. But comfort is not the only emotion that will be spread through your entire body as you turn the pages of this incredible novel filled with firsthand accounts, experiences, and a very vivid mental picture of a day in the life of a police officer. Not all days as a policeman are a threat to their lives, but when threats arrive and danger is lurking near, the day can go from happy-go-lucky to very frightening and dangerous. Some days, however, can be very rewarding, encouraging, and enlightening, when lost souls find a purpose, or a victim is helped and saved. Throughout the book, there are not only accounts of Michael Cover's police career and experiences, but there are also some of his fellow officers, some encounters with the general public, some who may be recognized by name, and others just average citizens.
Behind the Badge: A Policeman's Legacy by Michael Cover is an incredible, thrilling read based on the real life experiences of the author's career as a police officer. A reader can expect very well written, comprehensible, and at times uncensored text within the book. The author's purpose in writing was to enlighten the public on the heavy truths, pressures, and routines of a police career and discredit most stereotypical thoughts of what a police officer is or does. Michael Cover has succeeded in doing so with this graphic, raw, exceptionally detailed novel. Any reader interested in books about law enforcement will enjoy this book without a doubt.
