Eliminating occupational hazards or industrial accidents is one of the most vital aspects of business that modern organizations focus on. For this reason, the role of a collateral-additional duty safety specialist cannot be understated. In Basic Safety Administration, Fred Eldridge Fanning introduces readers to the fundamentals of preventing accidents and property damage within an organization. While using only collateral duty personnel, there should be a minimum of one collateral safety specialist for five-hundred employees. According to Fanning, a basic training program is a must-have to ensure that all personnel in any given organization are well-trained to safely execute their tasks. The book contains in-depth information on the different safety programs, the allocation of fiscal resources to safety programs, and the duties of an additional duty safety representative, including hazard recognition, assessment, and abatement, as well as administrative duties.
The author provides you with a management systems approach to inspecting and hazard awareness and showcases how you can apply it. This is a handy guidebook for new collateral-additional duty safety specialists that will help them set the standards that comply with the required guidelines of federal institutions such as OSHA and other relevant agencies in the public safety division. In Basic Safety Administration, author Fred Eldridge Fanning covers all the aspects related to risk management, preventing and correcting hazards, accident investigating and reporting, the purpose of inspecting, and much more. Fanning meticulously organizes the contents and explains the technical aspects in an accessible writing style to make it easy for the reader to grasp the subject matter. Overall, I found the book highly educational and informative. A must-read for safety specialists.
