Awakening: Book One of Kira's Story (The Realm Series 1) by Rebel Miller revolves around three characters; Kira, Tai and Gannon. Kira's new journey as she takes up a new job leads her to meeting two men who play different games with her. Tai, who is born into a family of warriors, intends to follow in his father's footsteps and make a mark in the Realm. The gray shades that exist in the Realm are pointed out to him by the woman he loves. Gannon is tipped to be the next leader of his caste and he is powerful. The change in his life comes in the form of a woman. Set in a futuristic society called the Realm, this compelling romantic novel will fascinate readers.
The author deftly weaves a love story with the multiple partner concept, along with the restrictions imposed by the existing caste system that interferes with Kira's relationship with Tai and Gannon. All three characters are powerful and portrayed well so that they stay memorable. The twists and turns in the plot add to the pace and movement of the story. The author handles the passion in the story with finesse, without going overboard. The writing style is fluid and the story flows effortlessly. The main characters are real and relatable and the rest of the characters in the story complement them nicely. Kira will definitely stay in the minds of readers for a long time, even after they finish reading this book.
