At the Museum is a children’s picture book written and illustrated by George Neeb. This story is about a young boy named Ryan who would rather play video games than go on a trip to the museum with his dad. Feeling bored and grumbling when they went to the museum, he was not interested in traveling back to ancient Greece and learning about Pegasus, Medusa, the Trojan horse, Zeus, Heracles, and the antique vases decorated with drawings. That is until he comes across an ancient vase with illustrations of Greek warriors engaged in epic battles. Noticing that something is moving on the vase, he leans closer to look. What happens next is an adventure into ancient Greece that will completely change his opinion about museums and ancient Greek history.
George Neeb’s At the Museum is a picture book every child should have. With illustrations that will grab your attention and a story that will draw readers back time and again, this book is about adventure, artwork, and fun. It uses simple language and sentence structure and is a great way to teach children the history of ancient Greece and make them interested in visiting museums. The author has also included works from other early civilizations such as the totem pole, Egyptian papyrus scrolls, and Chinese terracotta warriors in the illustrations, which you can point out to your children.
