At Any Cost (Chicago Underground) by Rebecca Lovell is a suspenseful romance with powerful hints of crime and characters that stay with readers long after they have put down the book. It is barely a week after Martin Caiber’s father was laid to rest. And now someone wants to kill him. He is ready to do anything to avoid his father’s ties to Chicago’s organized crime, but he knows the underground world won’t leave him alone. When Martin meets the daughter of a hitman from Georgia, the woman who calls herself The Hawk, he knows there is no getting away from her, because she can keep him alive as well as help him find out who wants to kill him. But there is a twist, one that none of them expected, and both their lives are in the gravest danger.
Intelligently plotted and deftly written, At Any Cost (Chicago Underground) is a captivating romance featuring two memorable characters, a strong conflict, and prose that makes for an interesting and enjoyable read.
