Assembly of Planets: Complete First Set by L.W. Brook is a young adult book that tackles the fantasy genre and does it really well. This is a collection of five novelettes that brings you a complete story, yet at the same time, they are a part of each other and complete each other as well. Each one of them gives a different facet of the story and you will get to understand it from another point of view. Every novelette makes headway for the main story so that you get to see the whole picture, but with new characters.
The five novelettes are called Castle in a Red Storm, Terror by Night, Callisto, The Moon, Assembly in Trial and Serenity. All tell a different story from different points of view. However, the whole series is based on the plot of planets. The Lead Council’s opinions are under scrutiny so the Assembly is voting to reseating and reconstructing the ten councils. These councils are the nine planets and another planet named X. To retain their positions, these councils will have to prove themselves by going through a series of trials to prove their worth. But there is trouble, especially for Jupiter, who is a connection between murders that happen. What will happen now? And who is the real culprit?
I know that Jupiter was the center of attention and that there was an aura of mystery around it, but somehow I loved Pluto more. The mystery around Pluto was familiar and different, all at the same time. This is a short and sweet collection that gives you a boatload of satisfaction because each and every one of these stories is complete in itself. L.W. Brook did an amazing job writing these stories with wit, charm, and a lot of talent.
