Asher the Dino: Mommy Goes to Work is written by Christine Limbach and illustrated by Mar Fandos. Asher loves spending time with his mother every day. He goes to school, colors, and plays soccer. When he comes home, he plays with Mom, loves the ferns she makes, and enjoys how she reads to him every night. When Mom has to go to work, Asher wonders how things will change. Who will pick him up from school and help him with his coloring? Who will make the ferns the way he likes them? Who will read to him every night? Will Asher be comfortable with the way things have changed? Will he and Mom miss out on the quality playtime they have enjoyed so much?
Asher the Dino is an adorable story that will help kids learn how to cope when things change at home. The characters are ankylosaurs with family-oriented personalities that kids will absolutely love. I loved the illustrations by Mar Fandos as much as I enjoyed the story. Each page has a bright image that is fun and shows the story through vibrant colors. I recommend Asher the Dino by Christine Limbach to young children, especially those who are experiencing changes at home and might need a little more understanding of their new normal. I hope that Limbach and Fandos team up again for more stories like this one about Asher and his family that will send positive messages to kids and help them learn how to navigate life’s challenges.
