Animus by Thomas Evans is a thriller that you won’t put down. Jason McDowell makes a choice – he gets in his truck and drives while drunk. He runs down a father and daughter collecting a birthday cake, killing the father and leaving the little girl in a coma. Found not guilty of murder or manslaughter, he walks free to continue his life, leaving a life in tatters. Three years later, Krystal is still in a coma and mother Janet and sister Kimberley, Krystal’s twin, bring her home. Jason lives on as normal, running from job to job, drinking his life away. Someone has decided that it is time for him to pay for tearing a family apart and a number of apparent accidents befall members of his family. Who is responsible though? Will the police track down a killer? Will they get the right person?
Animus by Thomas Evans was one of the most chilling thrillers I have ever read. I couldn’t put it down until I had read it from cover to cover. Readers beware – there are lots of little twists in this. You may think you know who did it but you might just be proved wrong at the end – I was! Excellent book, top class writer who has clearly put a lot of time and effort into this novel. I would be interested to know if he has any more similar novels out and if they are as good as this one. A huge thumbs up to Thomas Evans for a brilliantly written novel.
