Ancient Keys: Special Names of Jehovah is a work of non-fiction which focuses on Christian themes, Bible exploration, and history, and was penned by Dr. Douglas E. Carr. The author takes us through different instances from the scripture whilst also discussing the importance of the recurrent themes of names, naming and renaming, and what that means for the reformation of characters and coming to God. Within the work, eight key names of Jehovah are explored, and each one brings with it different facets of God and lessons that readers can take from this and apply in their everyday lives.
Author Dr. Douglas E. Carr packs a lot of meaningful content into this short volume, which makes it a very thought-provoking, philosophical, and useful book to keep on the bedside table. For practicing Christians and especially those wishing to deepen their knowledge of the Bible, Carr’s respectful and uplifting interpretations of Bible stories, passages, and the different dimensions to Jehovah are sure to provide unique insights and give readers new considerations to explore. I liked the organization of the work and how each idea and each name builds upon what we have already discovered, creating a full picture with plenty of life lessons by the conclusion of the work. Carr’s narration is scholarly yet approachable, explaining concepts in plain terms to make the work accessible to readers from all backgrounds. Overall, Ancient Keys: Special Names of Jehovah is a work that will be sure to please those looking to get more out of their Bible study.
