An Archer's Awakening: Of Crowns & Quills Book 1 by Casey Morales follows Declan Rea, a talented ranger cadet from Melucia. However, he falls short in one major way; he has no talent for magic. In his attempt to help the future rangers of Melucia, he meets Ayden, the handsome cadet with the most stunning eyes he’s ever seen. The two quickly develop a relationship that runs deeper than either of them could have ever predicted. Now they must face unprecedented circumstances and fight for who and what they love.
I thought An Archer's Awakening by Casey Morales was going to be a good boy’s love novel but was I wrong; it is so much more. Morales did such an amazing job that I can’t begin to express how much I enjoyed it. My favorite thing about this book was the fact that although the main couple was the focus, there were so many other brilliant characters and overlapping plots within this story. The world-building was creative and expansive, giving the reader such a vivid world to take in and learn about. The characters were all realistic and well-fleshed out, with their own personalities and motivations. From the start, I liked Declan purely for the fact that he was so determined to help Aaron pass his first year as it showed the type of character he would be from the start. This way of introducing characters in the novel seems to be the way Morales does it and I love it. There aren’t enough good things I can say about this book. Even if you aren’t a fan of male/male love stories, I urge you to read this book; it has so much to offer in terms of plot.
