Amish Country Christmas by Charlotte Hubbard/Naomi King is an Amish inspirational romance collection that is sure to put readers in the holiday mood. In Christmas Visitors, Martha and Mary Coblentz are identical twins who are turning eighteen on Christmas Day. When Martha meets Nate and Bram Kanagy, who are in town purchasing a new buggy and sled, she can't wait to tell Mary. The two girls catch the Kanagy boys' eyes but when the girls play a trick on them, things take a rocky turn. Can they work their problems out? Kissing The Bishop moves from young love to a more mature love story. Nazareth Hooley and her sister Jerusalem are a couple of spinster sisters who have been quite content to live differently than most Plain women, but when they move to Willow Ridge from Lancaster they find that perhaps God has different plans for them after all. Is there a chance that these sisters will get a chance at love after all?
Both of these stories are perfect holiday reading. I found the characters engaging, and it was interesting to see how the Coblentz sisters matured so much as their story progressed. The story really reminded me of love at first sight. A fun story where the characters' personalities really shine through. While I enjoyed this story, I have to say that my favorite had to be Kissing The Bishop. I really liked the characters; while they were more mature they were still young at heart. There were some real life issues with this story and one that really jumped out at me was divorce, something that I don't think I have seen before in an Amish novel.
Anyone who enjoys Amish fiction won't want to miss this book. The authors even provide several yummy recipes that are a fantastic bonus. Interesting story lines, with well written characters and a few plot twists, makes An Amish Country Christmas a must-read for anyone who enjoys an inspirational romance set during the holiday season.
