Amane of Teravinea: The Prophecy is Book 2 of the Teravinea series. I want to read Book 1 and the coming books for the very basic need to find out how things turn out for characters that I have come to love. I have been a lover of epic fantasy for many years and I don't know anyone who isn't fascinated by dragons. Amane of Teravinea has all the components to become a hit with fantasy lovers of all ages. Amane is a character that many teenagers can relate to. She's young and strong, but at the same time innocent and vulnerable. She is a common girl who can't quite believe she has been chosen for a very special task. She is a great character supported by many other very likable characters.
D. Trimble uses all the traditional elements of fantasy. There is a prophecy, a handsome prince, an evil usurper, and magic both good and evil. What is refreshing is that the protagonist is a girl and she saves the prince being held in the dungeon. This twist and the refreshing portrayal of dragons makes The Prophecy stand out. Amane of Teravinea is a special young lady in a very special time and place. I couldn't help comparing The Prophecy and this world of intelligent, telepathic dragons to another series about dragons, The Dragon Riders of Pern. It's too early to say for sure but I think I'm going to enjoy the Teravinea series a little more than I did that classic.
