Accept This Dandelion is the story of wannabe morning radio show host Renee Lockhart. Renee thinks auditioning for a local dating reality show would boost her profile and make her a shoo-in for the job, and it would have been. If Renee’s favorite flower weren’t a dandelion and the producer didn’t hate her answers. Fortunately for Renee, when eligible bachelor Ben sees her audition he decides he wants her as a contestant. Brooke Williams has written a charming story here that uses a popular concept and makes it lovable and relatable. Neither Ben nor Renee is doing the show for the purpose of love, but that makes the story more entertaining.
I love that author Brooke Williams decided to make Ben arrogant but not overwhelmingly so. He’s likeable but he’s so used to women fawning over him that he has no idea what to do with a woman like Renee who says what she means, is clumsy, and doesn’t bend over backwards to please him. Ben wants to settle down because it’s time, and to mend broken relations with his father. Renee wants that morning show job, but when they develop feelings for each other, it’s anyone’s guess what will happen! Throw in a few other gorgeous women competing for the attention of the rich, gorgeous guy Renee never really wanted and you have tons of tension, hilarity and jealousy to make Accept This Dandelion a big win. I just thought Renee was a great female lead in this story. She was spunky, blunt, clumsy and attractive and she didn’t play games. She is exactly the kind of woman you want to get the rich hot bachelor!
