A War of Love is written by William Elliott. This huge collection of poetry explores every aspect of relationships and life and will take you on a journey of self-exploration and absolute wonderment. The collection is divided into three sections: Pretty Poems, Humorous Poems, and Spiritual Poems. We take an in-depth look into human behavior from relationships with each other and our inner soul to philosophical exploration. The beauty of the animal kingdom and nature that we share the planet with is celebrated, and we are reminded why we should treasure this. Throughout the collection, the author takes you on an emotional journey of spirituality and self-awareness that will provoke deep inner reflection but also hysterical observations of people and their strange mannerisms.
A War of Love by William Elliott is a wonderful compilation of poems that will evoke every emotion in you as you read. He masterfully tackles themes of human behavior and some of the weird and wonderful traits we possess. There are profound heartfelt messages within some of the poems that will make you stop and ponder such as My Left Hand, Peace and The Veteran. There are others that will take you on a journey of love and romance only to surprise you with a humorous sting in the tail at the end, such as the Delicate Kiss. I feel William has opened his heart to the reader as we explore the relationship he has with his wonderful wife. I especially loved the comical poem Paper, as he tries to gain the psychological upper hand, which we can all relate to. His love of nature and the quirkiness of people will take you on an emotional rollercoaster; one moment you are laughing out loud, then in another, you will have a moment of clarity. An amazing collection and one that I will be rereading.
