In the past, Dillard has shown mysterious intuition which kicks into high gear when lead after lead ends with a dead body.

Someone knows more than they are telling. Evidence mounts and the question arises: is Dyson the victim or the deadly mastermind of a nefarious plot. Following a lead, the team finds a connection with a militia group named Border Guards. Homeland Security is placed on high alert and the President demands answers. Things heat to boiling point when Detective Harlowe disappears. Agent Dillard realizes that things just went from bad to very, very bad in a hurry.

I really enjoyed this story. The author has put together a strong story line of good procedural law enforcement work between federal agents and local police. By adding new information at just the right time, she keeps the reader interested in wanting to see what happens next. There are a lot of characters and good guys and bad are all exceptionally developed. Once the plot unfolds, the reader can’t help but be pulled in, easily identifying with the main characters. The end is satisfying and will leave the reader wanting to know when the next book comes out. Very well done.

FBI Tracker Adrian Dillard, on assignment to trace a missing ATF agent named Stuart Dyson, sits in a grimy, sleazy bar somewhere in Laredo, Texas, sipping a beer and waiting for an informer to contact him. His partner, Cat Morgan, waits outside, keeping watch. Finally, a biker contacts him and informs him that Dyson is dead. Promising to provide further details only after being paid, the biker walks out. Adrian follows and hands over the token first payment of a thousand dollars. The biker zooms off, after asserting more information will come only after receiving another $25,000. Not even out of sight, he is gunned down a very short distance away. Their sole chance of tracking the missing Dyson is gone. Then begins the amazing process of gleaning information out of thin air, as one may say. Traces reveal that detonators for explosives were what the biker was working on! What was the plan? The entire complex machinery of crime detection in the USA is activated. Numerous new protagonists, both good and evil, enter the arena. Homicide Detective Tracy Harlowe, the fiancée of the missing Dyson, who is a firebrand cop refusing to believe that Dyson is dead, though sidelined, breaks all barriers to pursue her own private investigation. The President of the USA and the Secretary of State for Homeland Security Vance Whitaker, and numerous other memorable protagonists like Scott Fleming, head of the Tracker Unit, Nicki, his computer guru, Ryan Barr, the unit’s profiler, Blake Kenner, and murderous local groups emerge.

The author uses all her experience and seamlessly moves the story along myriad threads, both of scenarios and time lines, with the investigation sometimes reaching back many years to connect links to both Dyson as well as each new protagonist who is connected with his disappearance. The reader will gasp with amazement as each curtain is lifted to reveal the incredible yet possible motive after motive behind the disappearance of Dyson. The secrets of A u 79, as well as the figure 27.43 pounds found on a slip of paper at one of the many murder scenes in the book, remain obscure, and all the investigation teams across the spectrum remain at a loss. Why did the investigation become a national priority with the President himself being briefed moment by moment? With excellent formatting, flawless grammar and diction, fluid seamless prose, strong and believable original characters, and a superb plot and story line, I will not hesitate in calling Anita Dickason’s nail biting A u 79 as being among the best in its genre, certainly a worthy contender for the silver screen.

When the investigation of Stuart Dyson－a missing ATF agent－stalled, the case is assigned to this new unit. Trackers Adrian Dillard and Cat Morgan go to Laredo, Texas, for a lead. But their work is cut out for them when their informant is shot dead. On top of that, local Homicide Detective Tracy Harlowe’s hostility is baffling and worrying, not to mention the theft of explosives that they discover. Time is ticking by and the Tracker Unit’s reputation is on the line, as the case proves trickier than they expected.

A u 7 9 is mostly plot-driven, but one of the best parts of this book for me is its memorable characters, who are all fleshed out quite nicely in a succinct narrative. My favorites are easily the Tracker team; Adrian, Cat, Scott, Nicki, Ryan, Blake, including the feisty Detective Tracy Harlowe. Plotting is essential for a crime story to keep readers interested, and Dickason did solid work in this aspect and moved the plot with considerable pace. Action, conflict, twists, and betrayal made the story intriguing. It was fun trying to figure out who the real perpetrator was in the end, and I have to confess my inkling was not that far off. On the whole, this is a good and compelling read. Fans of the detective crime genre can’t go wrong with Dickason’s A u 7 9.

A u 7 9 by Anita Dickason is a thrilling novel filled with suspense, mystery and riddles that keep the reader on their toes, trying to figure out the mystery and solve the case as the agents do. Being aimed at mystery and thriller loving adults, this novel hits the nail on the head with its target audience. The author does very well keeping the flow of the story going in a captivating way that doesn’t let the reader stop reading without a struggle. Not only that, but she does a wonderful job of keeping the secrets of solving the case to the very end. It is awe inspiring when you do solve the mystery. Learning that the author not only wrote this amazing story, but that she actually lived as a police officer before this only makes you want to read the next book even more. I enjoyed every word of this story and I really look forward to reading more from this author.
