“The seasons are not a concerto. They’re a full symphony. You each have a place, and beneath my watchful eye, I want to see you sparkle as the heavens do. Learn compassion and selfless spirit. Know that this world turns to your tune, your movement brings life. Bring your crescendo, but be sure your music sings with empathy, and most of all, know your place, know where you enter the composition and make the arrangement soar with your music.”
In A Symphony of Dragons, author Lisa Shambrook breathes a fresh and vigorous spin into dragon-themed tales. This fantasy collection includes seven stories, where each tale of desire, love, happiness, sacrifice, triumph and much more is brought to life, just as the seasons are brought by dragons. Deftly written in Shambrook’s beautiful and lyrical prose, the overall narrative offers a wide range of perspectives that allow readers to interpret their personal views in the context of the stories. Simply put, readers’ imaginations will definitely soar high. Her wonderful cover art is also deservedly praiseworthy. It complements the collection, eye-catching, and with a nostalgic feel to it, reminding me of my childhood years reading wonderful books with fascinating illustrations.
A Symphony of Dragons ends with two special stories, Cutthroat and Curses – An Anthology of Pirates, a Hope Within finale and a prelude to the forthcoming Seren Stone Chronicles. On the whole, this is a marvelous read that young and adult readers can enjoy. I also look forward to reading Shambrook’s Seren Stone Chronicles.
