The educative children’s book, A Ride to Save the Earth by Lilian Ruach, shares practical ideas that children can use to help conserve the environment. The book first explains that being environmentally conscious is in line with what God expects of us in taking care of the planet. Alvin, Audrey, and Angela are a close-knit group of young friends who meet and plan how they can help save the planet. Their families get together each summer for a cookout. This time, it is Audrey’s family’s turn. Following their meeting, the friends come up with a plan. The children are excited to execute it and work together to attain their goals. Audrey also comes up with an important suggestion that will help them achieve their aim.
Lilian Ruach includes many important lessons in this children’s book. Children will learn how to be team players and how to work together to accomplish a common objective. They will also be inspired to think about ways they can help conserve the environment. The methods suggested for taking care of the earth are accessible to children of all ages. I liked the fact that the friends come from different backgrounds. This will help children embrace their differences and develop inclusive friendship groups that work toward useful goals. The story is told using bright, colorful illustrations that children will love. They will also enjoy singing along with the characters in the book as they accomplish their mission. A Ride to Save the Earth is a wonderful book packed with important lessons for children about conserving the environment. Recommended for both children and adult readers.
