A Model Murder (Alicia Allen Investigates Book 1) by Celia Conrad is a fast paced mystery that throws you into a blend of fear and comedy and will make you see the parallels that can be drawn between Alpha males and law firms. Alicia Allen is a 29-year-old Londoner, part Anglo and part Italian, who loves Pringles and solving crimes. Her neighbor is an aspiring Australian model who is found murdered and raped violently after starting to work in a sleazy club. Despite her own world falling apart, and putting herself in danger, Alicia wants to help solve the crime and she risks everything to do so.
This book is a complex mix of story and adventure and Celia Conrad has seamlessly woven the web that brings you into the tale. Often times when I am reading a whodunit, I know who committed the crime by the middle of the book. This was not the case with A Model Murder and I love that fact! The complex twists and subplots (for me) were fantastic and exciting and kept me guessing every step of the way. The flow of the story was perfect; it never seemed to go too fast or too slow. In short, this is as close to perfection in a book that you can get. If you love a good murder mystery and want to work alongside the detective as they attempt to figure out who did it, this is the book for you.
