A Heart's Journey Through Time by Anthony W McGlothin is a volume of poetry that began in the author’s early teens. Desire, My Juliet and A Chance Meeting are prime examples of the love the poet experienced in life. Part two shares the experience of longing for home and elicits the deepest emotions that a soldier must endure as they march into unknown terrain during wartime. Part three sheds light on confusion and second-guessing choices. McGlothin shares the experience of bottled-up emotions and how they can wreak havoc on the mind, body, and soul via alcohol, drugs and suicide attempts that happen when one feels that they have no one they can trust.
The variety of subjects covered in A Heart’s Journey Through Time by Anthony W McGlothin is nothing less than amazing, as is the poetry. The author has covered everything from the feeling of falling in love to carrying the pain of heartbreak, as well as the fear and emotions felt when dealing with the very touchy subjects of drug addiction and abuse. I love how McGlothin has somehow managed to write poetry about subjects that are common in a way that avoids the cliche of poetry by using real-life experiences and situations to make the reader feel what he did at the moment. I absolutely loved A Heart’s Journey Through Time and recommend this book to anyone who enjoys poetry, even those who do not typically read poetry, because this volume expresses how life has ups and downs and that there really is life after heartache and addiction. I sincerely hope that McGlothin continues writing poetry that shares his life’s views and experiences.
