Right out of today’s headlines, this novel tells how our immigration laws affect several fictional characters. The main character is Governor Seabon Wilson who, after watching his state fall into despair over the extra costs coming from illegal immigrants decides to take on the federal government, attempting to force them to enforce illegal immigration laws by denying health care and education opportunities to illegal’s and children of illegal’s. From Governor Wilson, to the dilemma facing the President of the United States, to a young illegal named Juan just wanting a better life for his family, this story casts a haunting look at different characters heavily immersed in the illegal immigrant controversy.
A Disagreement in Idaho is a very well written book. The writing is smooth and the characters are realistic. A large amount of the book is political, but written in a non-political way. There are many different points of view and each reader will made their own determination, do they agree or disagree. This is a rather large book, almost 450 pages. While some of the chapters were a little wordy which in some cases I felt detracted from the main story line, I found it overall to very entertaining. The author has proven to be a very good story teller.
