A Bullet From Dominic: A Connie Gianelli Mystery (Blood Flows South Book 2) by Giacomo Giammatteo is a mystery story and so much more. It has been six months since Connie Gianelli was raped and almost killed by Carlos Cortes while she was working as a detective in Houston, Texas. She has returned to her home in Brooklyn and is no longer interested in solving crimes when the story begins. However, there are several cases going on in the police station in Houston, and when Connie’s ex-partner Tip calls and asks for her help, she cannot refuse. Connie prepares to leave her Uncle Dominic, a Mafia don, and return to Houston and her detective work. Tip and Connie soon realize that all of the cases that are being worked are related and the killings are being done by El Terrible, a female 'hit man' who is working for Carlos Cortes, the Mexican drug dealer. Many people are being killed and families are being threatened; it seems an impossible task to stop El Terrible. Making matters worse is a detective in the police station leaking the information to the bad guys and helping them stay one step ahead of being caught.
I could not stop reading A Bullet From Dominic until I found out what happened to Carlos and El Terrible. The story takes many twists and turns and the suspense grows with each new murder and bad thing that takes place. Giacomo Giammatteo is a talented author and is writing a fantastic mystery thriller series with Connie Gianelli as the star. I did not read book number one, but it took nothing away from becoming completely and thoroughly involved in, and a fan of, A Bullet From Dominic. I believe this series of books would be an excellent TV show and have already envisioned the actors and actresses I would like to see fill the roles. A Bullet From Dominic is a five star winner and a must-read for all mystery/thriller/detective fans.
