A Black Horse by Michelle A. Sullivan is a fantasy novel about good and evil. Lev Avatov is the kind of man you admire and fear in equal measure. He rose from nothing and built an empire that was respected worldwide. Lev lost everything after his wife and his son, Maxim, escaped with the help of Maggie Preston. He cannot use his wife, Margueritte in his experiments anymore. The Russian government has frozen all his assets and his estate and possessions have been confiscated. Lev wants revenge against Maggie Preston. Maggie is responsible for Lev losing everything by exposing him and his evil to the world. Lev needs a place to continue his research and knows that the Dragon Master has the perfect location. Lev is forced by the Dragon Master to work with a vampire who will oversee his research.
A Black Horse is a compelling story. The plot was original and very well executed. Michelle A. Sullivan took me on an adventure with biblical and supernatural creatures. This action-packed read was interesting and intriguing. I was kept in suspense, wondering what is going to happen next. Michelle did a great job describing the characters and events. Her descriptions and details made me feel like I was part of the story. The characters were well-developed and were given depth and personality. They were authentic and relatable and felt like people I could meet in real life. This story was well-written, and detail was given to the events. I was part of the struggles and everyday life of the characters. This is a special story that I enjoyed from start to finish. I couldn't put it down.
