Bees are an essential part of our environment. Their work in nature benefits us all. That's why children should get to know them, respect them, and understand their helpful work to balance nature. A Bee or Not a Bee? Early Science Questions will provide children with accurate information to identify these beneficial insects and also teach them to differentiate bees from other creatures. Audrey Sauble begins by asking questions about bees so children will become curious about their characteristics. She gradually introduces particulars with short but informative descriptions. In this way, young readers will learn about pollination, the life cycle of bees, and many more interesting facts.
I enjoyed reading A Bee or Not a Bee? because it has entertaining and factual content. This guide is suitable to encourage children to get close to nature and science. I liked the realism of the illustrations as they make it possible to identify one type of bee from another. In addition, there are descriptions of insects similar to bees so that children can understand the differences. The text is concise and the information is relevant. The topics covered are wide, such as the bees feeding and organizing their colonies. The content is appropriate for children of all ages. One of my favorite parts is an additional section where Audrey Sauble provides illustrations of different bees with their places of origin and scientific names, perfect to start one's observation of the natural world.
