Cooking is a great activity that stimulates children’s creativity. It is also an ideal way to share moments with family and friends. By preparing recipes, children will learn math by weighing and measuring. In addition, they expand their vocabulary by discovering new foods, ingredients, and utensils. With 5 Minute Kitchen Experiments: 50 STEAM Projects for Kids Safe Enough to Taste, children will have fun while cooking, working as a team, and gaining independence and confidence. Wolf Cub Chlo and Jenn Bell-Allen divide the recipes into five categories: science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. The experiments are entertaining, fast, safe, and use easy-to-find ingredients. The book will allow children to expand their knowledge and have enjoyment in the kitchen. In addition, each recipe includes a fun fact that explains the science behind each experiment.
The presentation of 5 Minute Kitchen Experiments is inviting and pleasurable. Wolf Cub Chlo and Jenn Bell-Allen have collected many recipes, and each one of them teaches something different. I enjoyed this book as it will allow children to develop their manual dexterity, add to their taste memory and diversify their preferences. At the same time, they will learn from different fields of science through experimentation, and the information will be easy to retain. The kitchen is a space that all family members can enjoy. Experiencing new things is a way to take advantage of the kitchen, and the moments of togetherness will be invaluable. Children will work together, be eager to learn, and be more open-minded, enthusiastic, and willing to collaborate.
