Debra Chapoton's 35 Lessons From the Book of Psalms examines a number of well-known and beloved psalms from the Bible. Beginning with the 23rd Psalm and a listing of Messianic prophecies found in the Book of Psalms concerning Jesus, the author opens up a treasure trove of information not only about the Psalms themselves, but about the Hebrew meanings, and even further into the spiritual significance in the look of the 22 Hebrew letters. Each devotion in this book ends with a series of questions that encourage the reader to do the heart work called for in the referenced scripture. Assignments are given periodically to research further, to write out a heartfelt prayer, to reword a psalm to personalize it, or to relate experiences from your own past that reflect the workings and character of God described in the reading.
Whether used as a personal devotional, prayer and study guide, a resource to better understand the Psalms, or a group study guide for Sunday School or Small Group Bible Study, 35 Lessons From the Book of Psalms by Debra Chapoton is a perfect workbook to lead you on a journey of discovery and reconnection with the God who made you. Well-researched and thought-provoking devotions fill every page, and I found many of the entries enlightening and challenging, revealing even in the holy name of God the call to salvation and the name of Yeshua, or Jesus. The Acrostic Psalms, the Psalms of Ascent, and the Messianic Psalms are all dissected with care to help us discover the attributes of our loving Father and His plan for us. Perfect for a personal devotional or group study of the Psalms.
