Insects play a fundamental role in all ecosystems, such as fertilizing the soil and other functions. They are incredibly important for our environment, which is why children should get to know them. With this book, children will see insects in a new way, be able to appreciate them, and see that they are also part of nature. Following the letters of the alphabet, 26 Bugs: An Incredible Insect ABC! shows a wide variety of insects with a brief description of each to help children understand them better. Their environment, capabilities, and physical characteristics are described. The information varies because each insect is unique. Craig Macnaughton includes scientific names to make them easier to identify.
I liked how Craig Macnaughton summarized the most relevant information because insects are more important than we think. Without them the rest of life could not survive, so we must respect their space. People should get used to the idea that insects are not all bad, but children need to identify which insects may be dangerous. They will also be able to see the wonderful attributes that such small beings can possess. The insects in the book are from different regions, so 26 Bugs can help children see the wider world. The presentation includes very interesting drawings with colors totally in accordance with the theme and the shades of the insects.
