Bil Howard is a native of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado where he was raised on a cattle ranch. He has a BA from West Texas A&M University. He studied pre-law as an undergraduate and minored in English Literature. He continued his love of English by pursuing an MA in English and Social Studies Education. He also studied psychotherapy at the graduate level. He has been a talent scout and manager in the Latin music industry. He has experience in vocal performance as well as theatre. For the past several years he has ghost written more than 100 short stories and several novels for various authors and on various subjects. He is currently living in Medellin, Colombia where he continues to write and to teach English.

Maribel has given her heart to Santiago and she will miss him terribly as he leaves to fight for independence for New Granda (Columbia). As Santiago is away fighting, Maribel spends her time taking care of things at home, especially her aging grandmother who is sick and dying. Maribel finds peace in her memories of Santiago, thinking about his return and the two of them having a home and a life together. But then there's Enrique, one of the neighbors who wants Maribel for himself. He wasn’t very happy when Santiago came into the picture. As she narrowly escapes one encounter with Enrique, he is now really out for revenge.
This is a short and sweet romance between Maribel and Santiago, with the evil Enrique trying his best to take Santiago out of the picture and ready to stoop to any level to do so. Zipaquira is my first book by Bil Howard and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are really believable, realistic, and enjoyable and the story is intriguing and interesting enough that you want to keep reading to see what happens. Enrique was irritating, but his character is what keeps the book interesting enough to keep going. And when you finish this book, you will have to read book two because the author leaves you hanging at the end. You have to find out if Enrique is successful in coming between Maribel and Santiago. I encourage you to read this one. It is short, only takes an hour or so to read it, and is fun and enjoyable.
