Your Service Is Required by Jeff Walker is a sci-fi novel set in a futuristic dystopia where human impact on the planet has pushed it to the point of no return, resulting in Earth being ruled by two sentient AIs, Malcolm and Angela. David is a Human Service Attendant (HSA) whose sole purpose in life is to serve his AI overlords and work at executing their every command. Forbidden to interact or connect with other HSAs for anything other than work, David finds himself approached by a man named Aaron, seeking his friendship. To his horror, this seemingly innocuous act results in Aaron's life being terminated. Now plagued by visions of a woman called Elizabeth, David is shocked to meet her in real life under extraordinary circumstances. Unbeknown to them, David and Elizabeth would soon find themselves acting on the mysterious whims of Angela.
If you're a fan of the Hollywood hit movie The Matrix, you will find much to enjoy in Jeff Walker's Your Service Is Required. The story is set in a distant future where humanity's stupidity and selfish behavior made most parts of the planet uninhabitable, with the only surviving humans serving as attendants for their AI rulers. Filled with suspense, mystery, and intrigue, the plot is completely unpredictable as it takes unexpected twists and turns to always keep you guessing what will happen next. David is a layered protagonist and you can't help but sympathize with him. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and recommend it to sci-fi lovers.
