As the title suggests, there are many illnesses out there which cause mental anguish and overall trauma, which can have a devastating effect on the body. In her work, Gould derives a methodology from both standard medical approaches and her personal experiences of trauma recovery, incorporating alternative thinking as a basis for overcoming both struggle and strife, and the healthcare divide itself.
Author Elizabeth Gould M.S. has much authenticity and experience in the field of trauma, as exemplified by her confident narrative voice and the personal touches which she incorporates very well into her professional style of narrative. The issues in the book are given their due as complex and individual problems which sufferers face the effects of every day, yet the reactions and trauma suffered do speak universal truths. This work is well organized to help readers read and re-read different sections for their own reference, and takes you through different stages of the process with definitive actions and exercises which you can incorporate into your life right away. It is both practical and optimistic, bridging the gap between medical and alternative, but advocating strongly that we listen to our bodies for the answers which we seek. Overall, Your Best Health By Friday is an excellent work which is highly recommended for all sufferers of trauma to read.
