You May Kiss the Bird (A Kat-Can't-Cook Cozy Mystery Chef Book) by Karen Robl is a sleuthing mystery. Kat’s love life is a bit of a disaster, pretty much like her cooking. As well as driving men away in droves and being in ER more times than she’s had hot dinners, she has just been booted out of the cooking class that she and her best friend were taking. To top it off, there’s a mysterious stranger in town. Kat has a dream though, a vision, and that is to make it as a professional restaurant chef. Right now, she’s a wedding planner, but with all the rich clients she’s getting, it seems that money equals crazy and Kat is having a hard time fulfilling all the requests. This latest client could be just what Kat is looking for, though – the bride’s mother is a financier and Kat needs money for her restaurant. But, as with everything Kat is involved in, it all soon goes horribly wrong. Instead of becoming the chef she always dreamed of, Kat turns to amateur sleuthing to solve the mystery of a murder and a kidnapped cat. With a clairvoyant and a drop-dead handsome restaurant critic on the scene, surely everything will go right for Kat this time?
You May Kiss the Bird (A Kat-Can't-Cook Cozy Mystery Chef Book) by Karen Robl is a laugh out loud read, full of amusing antics. It was an absolute joy to read, something that had me laughing pretty much all the way through. The story moves along at a fast clip, keeping a reader hooked and on the edge of their seat. The character development was great. I really felt I knew the main players in the story, especially Kat, on a personal level. This isn’t one of those easy-read books where you know who the antagonist is right from the start. Indeed, this story will keep you guessing, with something new happening to throw you off course around every corner. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series. I hope it’s as funny as this one.
