Would You Rather? by Anna Avelino is a whirlwind adventure that takes young readers to prehistoric times, around the world, and everything in between. It is filled with hundreds of Would You Rather? questions certain to get the whole family thinking and having fun. The questions are divided into different sections, ranging from things you can eat to superpowers. They can be challenging, amusing, or even require more thought. No stone is left unturned in this creative book.
While Would You Rather? by Anna Avelino caters to young readers ages eight to twelve, it is a delightful read for adults and children alike. Older children may also find the topics interesting and fun. I loved that something seemingly ordinary could become a silly scenario that sparks giggles and belly laughs. On the other hand, some questions required deeper thought and even some digging into different topics. Overall, each question was a journey provoking unique responses. This book is more than just fun, though. It can teach children critical thinking skills, as well as introduce them to new subjects like The Forbidden City in Beijing, China. As an adult, readers may even learn about some new things, which got my family looking into topics we had not heard of before. It is perfect for a family night in, reading with friends, or even some educational debates. Teachers may even find this book to be a good tool to engage young minds, as well as have a little fun in the classroom.
