The setting is Belleville, Illinois and Wyoming Territories, 1861. Belinda and her family make the dangerous trek from Illinois to the Oregon Territory. The journey is difficult and dangerous. Her father is a visionary. Her mother is doubtful but she’s a “good” wife and follows where her husband leads. When tragedy strikes, fourteen year old Belinda is left on her own. Her faith is shaken but comes back stronger than ever. While she never turns to prostitution she takes refuge in a brothel.
I enjoyed Endless Sight. The characters are interesting and well developed. I thing the father was incredibly careless to have placed his family in such danger. Both Phoebe and mother had such bad attitudes that I wasn’t sure I liked them. Life was difficult but when you have lemons you make lemonade. Then there is our heroine Belinda. She demonstrates an incredible wisdom and faith for one so young. Don’t miss this inspirational book, get your copy today.
