Before she ventured into the world of writing, Cynthia graduated from the University of Southern California before obtaining her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from Cornell University. Academics aside, Cynthia's true passion is experiencing as much of the world as possible through the lens of her camera. After designing a website to showcase her diverse photography, Cynthia decided to edit her dog Winston into her travel landscapes. What started as a comical exchange between friends has transpired into a published book.

Do you like to travel? See new countries, experience the life, the food, the people? Well, that’s what Winston likes to do. The funny thing is, though, Winston’s a dog. To be more accurate, he’s a Pomeranian. He had a good life in the USA, but one day he realized there was so much to see beyond his backyard fence and he wanted to see it all. So, with his backpack full of essentials (food, treats, favorite bone, that kind of essentials), he boarded a plane for London. This was followed by a train ride to Paris and then on to Italy. Three countries, three cultures, and lots to savor, learn and enjoy. Winston’s one brave and energetic pup!
Cynthia Anne Finefrock’s picture book story, Winston the Traveling Dog, is a charming story about a clever, sweet dog and his love for traveling adventures. The author begins by introducing Winston and then describes his desire to see the world. The plot evolves through three countries, complete with cute anecdotes about things seen, food enjoyed, including pizza near the leaning (not learning) Tower of Pisa (not Pizza, as Winston first thought), and new friends made. The photographs help carry the story along and even add to the humor. I especially like the black and white sweater and red scarf that Winston wore after shopping along the Champs Élysées in Paris. This makes a charming kids' version (or pup version) of a travelogue, complete with an encouraging last line: “Anything is pawsible, if you put your mind to it.” (Yes, pawsible is now officially a real word.)
