William Newman’s Adventures by Julie Cabitto takes place from 1744 to 1843, a period in the United States that was fraught with wars against the British and French. The author captures the reader's attention from the opening prologue to the very last page. Julie uses her characters to the maximum and they draw the reader into their lives, fighting for their freedom, and surviving hurricanes, plagues, and disease. Julie has written a factual but heartbreaking and inspiring story about this era and takes a family through three wars. The many characters all play their part in the unfolding of this amazing story.
Julie Cabitto has used the history of the Newman family and written a most inspiring, compassionate, and interesting story as to how some families managed while helping neighbors and fighting in wars with General Lee and General Washington, surviving the loss of family members and walking away in triumph. This is a book that will remain in the reader's memory long after it has been put on the shelf. The story has twists and turns both sad and troubled but also loving and joyful which will call the reader back again and again. The author has honored those who fought for the freedom of this new country with honor, accuracy, dignity, compassion, and love. This is a book that you will read, recommend and then read again. I highly recommend William Newman’s Adventures not only for the story but for the historical facts that are accurate. Thank you for this wonderful book, Julie. I really enjoyed reading it. An exciting read.
