Many people have asked her, “How did you get the name Miracle?” Before Pastor Pettenger was born, the doctors warned her mother that if she were to continue with the pregnancy, the baby would be born mentally retarded with water on the brain. However, being a woman of God, her mother, Apostle Dorene J. King refused to believe the report of the doctors and went home and began to pray. As she was praying, God spoke to her and said: “Her name shall be called Miracle, for I will prove to my people that I am yet a miracle-working God.” Standing on this word, Apostle King gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on January 31, 1979. And as for all the complications and defects that the doctors had predicted, well, none of them came to pass.
As a wife, mother, retired corporate professional, entrepreneur and pastor, Miracle Pettenger preaches and teaches the proceeding plans and promises of God while sharing her personal testimonies of God’s favor and glory in her life. Why Am I Still Waiting? Encouraging Your Soul Through Life by Pastor Miracle Pettenger is an inspirational book that focuses on the core of life and answers some of life's toughest questions from a Christian perspective. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and learned so many valuable truths. I found myself being reminded of some of my past teachings and discovering answers to some unasked questions lingering within my soul.
The author took the time to break down our makeup as human beings. Being a trichotomy, we have a spirit, soul, and body (soma, psyche, and pneuma). A lot of the problems we face occur within the psyche (soul) and manifest through our soma (body). Everything we face is processed by our mind (thoughts) and carried out according to our will (the choices and decisions we make). The author skillfully breaks down how to overcome our self and move to a place, mentally, where we are flowing in God's spirit. A powerful quote from the author is as follows: "Therefore, if we want to experience God’s best and live out His divine purpose for our lives, we must set our soul (mind, will and emotions) on that which follows after the will of God and guard our soul against the tactics of the enemy."
This devotional book builds upon that profound statement and adds scriptural riches that will take readers to a new level. The teachings will not only open up readers' minds, but will plant the seed of faith. I would recommend this book to anyone who is seeking answers to life's questions. This book will answer them and take you down a path of growth.
