Who’s Got Your Back? is an engaging work on social issues and Christian principles for living by author David W Smith. Self-described as the guidebook to “Making and Keeping Great Relationships Among Men”, this informative and self-aware work focuses on those men who may struggle to form close bonds in the same way that groups of women can. Using Jesus as a model for both strength and inspiration, but also warmth, honesty and sensitivity, the guide teaches principles for getting by in the difficulties of life and learning to trust and rely on other men as more than simply business allies or accidental acquaintances.
This book mixes traditional and modern thinking really well, bringing the formative Christian messages and behavior of Jesus Christ to the forefront as a solution to many of the isolation problems which men of all ages experience nowadays. Author David W Smith writes with great compassion on the subject but also presents his stories and lessons in a casual narrative style so as not to directly preach throughout the work. The examples chosen are very powerful, but also contain real strategies which can be put into place from the moment you finish reading them. The overall aspirations and definition of manliness which they work towards make a really excellent, positive benchmark for men at this particular time in social history. Overall, Who’s Got Your Back? is a highly recommended work that is certain to help many men form meaningful relationships and supportive environments in the future.
