Who Will Accompany You? is a new memoir written by the award-winning memoirist Meg Stafford. Meg joins her daughters, Kate and Gale, on their special trips to what may seem or become enlightenment. The first stop is in the Himalayas with Kate. Meg heads out on backbreaking hikes while Kate stays in a Buddhist temple, learning the art of happiness itself. Although at times they are apart, the two come to find their own meaning of the word. As for Gale, she’s living in the mountainous jungles of Colombia where animals come and go in the houses as they please. Colombians exemplify unity and the community is strong. Though there are dangers on the path, there are more positives than bad. Along the way, they meet new people and learn about new cultures and traditions.
What a heart-warming and emotional ride! This memoir does not stick you in the back seat but allows you the liberty of riding ‘shotgun’. Upfront, you witness the deeply poignant tale Meg Stafford and her daughters weave together. From soaring heights to silent temples, whatever adventure there is to experience and feel is yours too. There is something so complementary about travel and the human mind. We always learn and connect. Who will accompany you on your travels? What different encounters can you enjoy with others? Bilbo Baggins said it best when he told Frodo: “You step onto the road, and, if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
