Whitby Rock: The Sweetest Drug by Kev Freeman is 'An Engaging Murder Mystery.' We find ourselves in a rural village with a body hanging in the belfry. Detective Inspector Mary Hunter is on the case, but there are few clues, just a few candies in "Whitby Rock" paper and nothing to say who the victim is. Mary starts her investigation and soon clashes with Jack Headland, a man struggling to leave his poor beginnings behind. Unfortunately, he can't keep out of trouble and finds himself involved with a mastermind who tells a tale of criminality across the miles and over decades. The links become clear – a strange hotel, 1940s Sweden, and LSD – but can Mary pull them all together and solve the mystery?
Whitby Rock: The Sweetest Drug by Kev Freeman is a tale packed full of mystery and intrigue in a writing style that draws you in and has you turning the pages right to the very end. It's a fun story full of action and well-developed characters that you can't help but like. The suspense builds steadily throughout the story, and all the threads weave neatly together. It does jump from the present to the past and back again, but it's easy to keep up with, and all the different stories do come together and make sense. Across the decades and across borders, this story will sweep you up and keep you reading as you try to figure it all out. I guess the ending means there is another part to this story, at least I hope there is.
