This remarkable mythologically-themed novel follows a Texan archaeologist, Dr. Jake Steiner, who tries to prove that the events recorded in the Bible regarding the race of giants called the Nephilim are true. Where Did All These Gods Come From? by Steven Reider tells how Dr. Jake Steiner makes breakthrough discoveries that at first clash with his religious beliefs. One day, Jake's assistant, Frank Logan, who also does side jobs for the CIA, invites Jake to check out a secret underground laboratory, a relic from World War II. The underground facility proves to have been built by the Nazis, who performed experiments and atrocities on humans. But along with many peculiar discoveries that will deepen the mystery more and more, Jake finds the love of his life, learns that Frank isn't who he says he is, and who his birth father was.
I had no choice but to let this fantastic adventure book that traces the origin of mythological gods swallow me up entirely. Where Did All These Gods Come From? by Steven Reider is a work of fiction, but more than half of this book doesn't feel as such. Steven Reider has gorgeously crafted a captivating story inspired by the theory of the Nephilim that feels utterly real. He brilliantly captures the mystery and the danger that an archaeologist descends into with every valuable discovery he makes. But most importantly, he delivers a surprising look at the difference between theory and fiction, making this compelling story of discovery, religion, and romance compulsively readable. Where Did All These Gods Come From? by Steven Reider will definitely appeal to readers who enjoy good mystery or action and adventure stories.
